Description

Nokia 8 comes in a little box with image of the device and Nokia branding and the Nokia’s connecting people philosophy. On the side it got a Android branding which states ‘pure, up-to-date, secure, always with Nokia. The back contains some info about the Nokia 8 and the image of the device itself.

The phone comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It got a 5.3 inch WQHD screen with 2K solution and 554 PPI. Nokia 8 has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage with expandable storage option. There is a 13 megapixel dual rear camera setup on the back side and 13 megapixel front camera. Both of these cameras are Zeiss optics powered. Nokia 8 also has the Nokia OZO Audio with 3D Spatial surround sound and 360-degrees audio capture.

It also has a microphone playback. There is also the Nokia 8 image and the qualcomm snapdragon branding along with the Zeiss branding. Opening the box of Nokia 8 you will get the Nokia 8 itself. Below it are the SIM card ejector and some user manual and Quick Start Guide. You also get the earphones, USB cable and a charger.

On the front of the device is the branding at the top right and a 13 megapixel front facing. Nokia 8 got a display of 5.3 inch WQHD screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. At the bottom you get a fingerprint scanner between screen navigation keys. One can opt to skip the set up steps after booting which may take some time since it is the first boot.

The screen is really nice, as stated a 5.3 inch WQHD screen and a 554 PPI. It is so clear that if one happens to zoom it in not a single pixel on the screen can be seen. Screen to body ratio is a bit low at around 70% only leaving lots of empty space at the top and at the bottom.

The fingerprint sensor is pretty small with lots of empty space between it and the screen. Nokia 8 comes with glance screen feature that we have seen earlier on Lumia and Samsung devices. Nokia is bringing back to its flagship Nokia 8 Android smartphone with the always on display. It show the battery percentage, time, date and the notification options for SMS and calls.

At the back the Nokia 8 got a dual 13 megapixel RGB camera and monochrome cameras with laser auto-focus and a LED flash. There is shiny Nokia branding and some regulatory information down below. The back of the phone generally is good with a microphone on top and edges which are very smooth.

At the bottom the device got a set of speaker grilles, USB type-c port and once again a microphone. On the right hand side there are volume rockers and the power key. At the top there is a 3.5 mm audio jack and on the left side there is a SIM card tray slot .The SIM 2 slot works as the memory card slots.

Nokia 8 is pretty lightweight and comes with 3090 mAh battery which is not that huge.

The home screen of Nokia 8 and comes with lots of Google applications installed. If you go to the app drawer you will not find any file manager, gallery application or music application. Everything is depending and working on the Google set of applications. For example for gallery purpose you would have to use the Google Photos and for music you will have to use Google Play Music. One can always install third-party applications of your like for all of these purposes.

Out of the 64 GB storage, nearly 14 GB has already been used leaving more than 50 GB free memory. For the RAM only 1.4 GB is consumed and 2.6 GB RAM is free after booting the device for the very first time.

Nokia 8 Android 7.1.1 OS and it comes with the latest August security patch level as well. It is loaded with lots of features like the motion and gesture settings, NFC enabled Android pay and the user functionality.

The camera interface has a number of options. On the bottom left is an option to go to the video mode. Touching the shutter button you will find available camera modes like live bouquet, panorama, beautify and some manual settings are provided. On top are a few options available like flash settings, HDR settings then there is timer.

Another interesting stuff about Nokia 8 is that one can use the rear and front camera at the same time. Image processing is also very fast.

The phone comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with 4 GB of RAM so the performance of the device is really good.
