The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is a budget range tablet coming in a 4G LTE variant internationally and a variant that has just 3G. It comes with 16 gigabytes of internal storage and it has a 203 mm screen. This means Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has 8 inch display. It’s just an 8 inch screen and the screen resolution is actually not that great. It’s just very mediocre.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 gigahertz, 2 gigabytes of RAM, a 5 megapixel front-facing camera 2 megapixel rare facing camera and a 4200 milliamp hour battery. In terms of aspect it is very different from other Samsung tablets. The aspect ratio looks like an iPad because the screen aspect ratio is 4 by 3 instead of 16 by 9. It comes with the normal accessories having a USB cable and a normal charger at 5 volts. It is not a very fast charger. it has the SAR information because this has cellular SIM card and it says the SAR value is 0.94.
The tablet feels and has touch type capacitive buttons at the bottom. This is a device with SIM so you can make actually cellular calls. The fornt has the 2 megapixel front-facing camera and the ambient light sensor. On the back is the 5 megapixel camera with no LED flash. One side has a secondary noise cancellation mic and having all the needed buttons. It also has a micro SD card slot so you can put microSD cards up to 128 gigabytes. The SIM card slots supports both 4G and 3G. At the bottom it has the microphone, a micro USB slot, the 3.5 mm headphone jack and one opening for the speaker grille. This means Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has a mono speaker.
The battery is sealed inside which is a 4200 milliamp hour battery. The screen size as mentioned is 8 but the screen resolution is not very high. It sports the screen resolution which the iPad 1 and the iPad 2 had, that is 1024 by 768 pixels. This comes to a PPI of 160 which is certainly not that high in today’s age but again Samsung is touting this as a budget oriented not a high-end tablet.
It runs on TouchWiz which most Samsung devices are using. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 comes running on the Android version 5.0.2 which is Lollipop. So you’re getting Android Lollipop out of the box and the internal storage is 16 gigabytes. The left out space is just about 10.78 gigabytes but you can add a micro SD card to the device.
There are no any lags when using the tablet and there are some apps comes installed. In fact Microsoft apps like Microsoft Office: Word Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote are pre-installed. Also are the Google specific apps that are pre-installed. All this casues no bloatware. Looading apps like the Chrome web browser is fairly quick and it does not take a lot of time.
The keyboard has the number row and feels responsive. The desktop site, screen and the color accuracy is nice. Viewing angles also look decent but again it’s not an AMOLED screen, it’s a normal TFT screen. The camera has ability to touch to focus and the pictures are not that sharp little but bit blurry. The home screen rotates if you change the orientation.
